Week 3 - Blue Mountains and the Outback of NSW

Before the Outback trip I had a few days in the Black Mountains... On the first day of the Road Trip we also went back to stop at the 3 Sisters.

Port Stephens birdlife!
Nice pelicans

One of the beaches in Port Stephens
In the Hunter Valley we did an early morning balloon flight which was amazing!

Wild Koalas

The Warrenbungles National Park area
Turtle on the road!
Baby joey and kangaroos
Lots of galahs were squalking like mad in the morning in our campsite near the Warrenbungles
This was civilisation compared to the area that the sheep station was in!

On the road between Bourke and the Warrenbungles
Emu!

We didn't stay at the Coolaban Hilton

Bouke - Outback hub. Didn't have much life being in the middle of nowhere. The graffitti was thoughtful though!

Pictures from Trilby Sheep Station and around.

Stopping for fuel at the "local" pub
Goanna on the road

We went fishing for Yabbies (that's crayfish in English) and ate them (poor creatures!)

Abandoned house near the Sheep Station

Abandoned London bus and Ute

Red dust storm.... nothing to block on any side of the horizon.

Kookaburra at Trilby

Sunset and general pictures from Trilby

Kangaroo! - By the end of the week we saw so many we stopped stopping the car - I probably have more Kangaroo pictures than pictures of Angkor Wat now...

At the local pub I decided to make friends with the locals - I was after a portrait of this sheep shearer who was really... ummm... distinctive. I got the picture and then got sexually harrassed!!

It was RED!
And blue!
Trilby - In the middle of nowhere

It was also very HOT!

In Cobar the best place to eat was the Caltex Truck stop! Funny - that's a favourite in Cambodia for some as well!

Before the roads became unsealed you could still see for many miles down the road!

Cockatoos - everywhere!
